Rollin' with Darla - Jelly Roll Rug Class

If you are like us you love the look of a bright colorful jelly roll rug - but may be too intimidated to try it.  Well... Here is your chance to learn with one of the most fun instructors ever!  Darla Mitchell of My Fine Stitches will have you rolling right along in no time.

The class is structured in two separate sessions
Week 1 - Session 1:  Learn how to transform your jelly roll and batting into a looooooong tube.
Week 2 - Session 2:  Sew your jelly roll rug together!!

If you do not finish making your loooooooong tube during Session 1 you will have homework to finish the tube prior to Session 2 the following week.

Students must have previous sewing experience.  You should be comfortable using a rotary cutter, scissors,  rulers, and standard sewing notions. Your instructor will be there to demonstrate techniques, answer questions, and help you along the way.

Come ready to rock-n-roll on your new rug, meet new friends and have a blast! 

We Supply

• Jelly Roll Rug pattern by RJ Designs
• Expert instruction
• Sewing machines***

You Supply

• Jelly Roll - at least (40) 2-1/2"x42" strips
• 50 weight thread to coordinate with your Jelly Roll
• (1) 50-yard roll Bosal Katahdin on a Roll - or (2) 25-yard rolls.  This is pre-cut Cotton batting - we ask that you do not cut your own batting for this class.
• Jelly roll tube maker (Clover or The Gypsy Quilter tube makers recommended)
• Fabric scissors
• Rotary cutter with fresh blade
• Short ruler for trimming seams
• Seam Ripper
• Straight pins, clips
• Favorite fabric marking pens/eraser (not permanent)
• Highlighter and pencil/pen to mark notes on the pattern

You are welcome to bring a Jelly Roll from your stash.  If you need a Jelly Roll, or any of the other supplies required above, we have them available for purchase at the store.  Please have all supplies ready to go at the start of class.

*** If you prefer to bring your own sewing machine, please let us know in advance.  We will provide you with the list of machine requirements and accessories necessary for class.  Email us at nwarkansas@thequiltedcow.com
